Molecular Characterization of Early Maturing Sugarcane Clones Using Microsatellite Markers

نویسندگان

چکیده

Sugarcane is an important cash crop of the entire world including India. It alone contributes to 75% worldwide sugar trade. Molecular markers are powerful tools and provide basis for estimation genetic variability start reasonable breeding program. Microsatellite have unique ability determine extent divergence among sugarcane genotypes. The objective this study was evaluate 12 early maturing clones using 11 SSR markers. A total 55 alleles were found during amplification primers out which 21 34 shared. number shared per locus ranged from two five in case primer NKS 1 nine ten 34. Similarly no. one 34, three six 57. pairs 8 generated considerably greater percentage alleles. PIC values revealing allelic diversity frequency genotypes varied 0.034 48 0.778 9 with average 0.549. Pair-wise combinations CoSe15451 CoSe15452 showed highest similarity value coefficient (0.890). lowest be 0.490 pair CoBln15501 CoSe01421. dendogram based on marker analysis grouped into four clusters shows had maximum between each other.

Databasing Molecular Identities of Sugarcane (Saccharum spp.) Clones Constructed with Microsatellite (SSR) DNA Markers

This paper reports the development of the first SSR marker-based sugarcane (Saccharum spp.) molecular identity database in the world. Since 2005, 1,025 sugarcane clones were genotyped, including 811 Louisiana, 45 Florida, 39 Texas, 130 foreign, and eight consultant/seed company clones. Genotyping was done on a fluorescence-capillary electrophoresis detection platform involving 21 highly polymor...

Detection of Polymorphism in Ancient Tempranillo Clones (Vitis vinifera L.) Using Microsatellite and Retrotransposon Markers

Tempranillo is one of the most widely cultivated grapevine varieties in Spain. After several years of clone selection, some highly recommended old clones have been identified in terms of both their qualitative and production characteristics. This study was designed to discriminate among 28 ancient clones of the cultivar Tempranillo (Vitis vinifera). DNA samples from clones were analysed using t...

Paternity identification in sugarcane polycrosses by using microsatellite markers.

Although polycrosses have been used to test the potential of cross-combination of a large number of sugarcane parents, the male parent of the half-sib progenies produced is unknown. The present study aimed to integrate the molecular marker technology to the sugarcane polycross approach by the application of microsatellite markers to identify the male parent of 41 elite clones derived from polyc...

Use of microsatellite markers for molecular characterization of cumin (Cuminum cyminum L.) ecotypes

In this study, Simple Sequence Repeat markers (SSR) were used to investigate the genetic variation between 49 cumin ecotypes collected from 9 different provinces of Iran. SSR primers Elap1479, Elap040 and Elap1493 showed the highest (89%), while Elap1340 and Elap017 showed the lowest (56%) number of polymorphic bands. Polymorphism information content (PIC) values varied between 0.18 - 0.37. The...

Molecular Characterization of Zhumeria majdea Iranian Germplasms Using ISSR Markers

Investigating genetic diversity in plant species provides a platform for further insight in plant breeding and conservation. Therefore, in the present study genetic diversity of 13 geographically isolated genotypes of Zhumeria majdea, as a seriously endangered medicine plant growing exclusively in Hormozgan province (South of Iran) was studied. To do so, the leaf samples of Z. majdea were colle...
